Global capability centres, or GCCs, are offices that large international companies run in India. They are among the biggest employers of fresh graduates, yet few students know what the entry roles involve.
What a GCC does
A GCC handles work for its parent company: finance and accounting, HR operations, customer support, analytics or technology. You work for the company itself, not for an outside client.
A typical day as a Process Associate
- Processing transactions or requests using set steps and tools.
- Checking data for errors and fixing them.
- Updating trackers and reports, often in Excel.
- Joining short calls with colleagues in other countries.
How the role grows
With steady performance, associates move to senior associate and then to team lead or assistant manager roles. Many later move into analytics, quality or process improvement.
What recruiters look for
Accuracy, patience with detailed work, basic Excel and clear written English. You don't need a technical degree.
It is a solid first step if you like structure and want to learn how large organisations run behind the scenes.
